About the H1N1 Flu   Symptoms of the H1N1 Flu   Prevent the Spread H1N1 Flu
"H1N1 Flu" or "Swine Flu" is a new influenza virus first seen in the United States in April 2009. This virus spreads from person-to-person probably in the way that the regular seasonal Flu virus spreads.   Similar to the regular seasonal flu, people suffering from the H1N1 Flu suffer from body aches, fever, sore throat, cough, headache, chills and fatigue. Less often people suffer from diarrhea and vomitting. Very concerning is the fact that H1N1 may cause a chronic health condition to get worse.   If your doctor feels you are a candidate, get vaccinated. Cough and sneeze into a tissue then dispose of it properly after use. Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hands cleaner. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Stay home from school or work if you get sick.

Prevention of the Flu with proper hand washing.
  • Wet your hands with running water and then apply soap. Lather well.
  • Rub your hands together for 20-30 seconds.
  • Scrub your hands, wrists, fingers and between them plus under your finger nails.
  • Rinse well and dry your hands with a clean or disposable towel.
  • Use a towel to turn off the water when you are done.
  • The CDC suggests that if soap or water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
